Giovanni Enrico has snatched victory on today’s special. The Chilean has reached the finish 1’30’’ ahead of Alexandre Giroud and only gains 1’45’’ over Manuel Andújar, who has finished in third place. The Argentinean still boasts a lead of almost 20’ over Giroud and near to 25’ over Enrico in the general standings, leaving him comfortably in control.
After battling for stage victory for most of the special yesterday, Romain Dutu has suffered a puncture after 380 km. At the previous time check point (after 354 km), he occupied seventh place almost half an hour behind Giovanni Enrico.
Giovanni Enrico, Alexandre Giroud and Manuel Andújar are all within thirty seconds after 320 km. The stage victory will without a doubt bet taken by one of the three, but which one? Pablo Copetti is now too far behind, trailing the leading trio by almost 10 minutes.
Alexandre Giroud is not beaten yet! After dropping back into fourth place almost three minutes behind after 200 km, the Frenchman has climbed into second position after 271 km, only 49’’ behind Giovanni Enrico. General standings leader Manuel Andújar is third a little more than one minute behind, but the day is proving more complicated for Pablo Copetti, who trails by more 6’24’’.
