Kevin Benavides bounced back from the hellish experience of stage 6, when he lost his engine and waved goodbye to his overall prospects, by taking his first stage win since the start of the rally. The Argentinian was deducted the time spent trying to help Paulo Gonçalves, putting him 1'23' ahead of Joan Barreda in the stage classification.
Toby Price has finished stage 7 in a time 1 h and 23 minutes slower than Barreda's. However, the Australian spent a long time trying to help Paulo Gonçalves, so his actual position will be calculated later today, as will Štefan Svitko's.
Kevin Benavides has wrapped up today's special 6'35' behind teammate Joan Barreda. Give or take a few seconds, this is the same time the Argentinian biker spent trying to help Paulo Gonçalves, so it will be deducted from his time this evening. As a result, the stage win is still up in the air.
Ricky Brabec did a stellar job today, losing only 3'29' to stage winner Joan Barreda despite having to open the track. The American is looking like the most consistent rider this year.
