Eduard Nikolaev has reacquainted himself with victory to win for the third time since the start of the rally, 3’15 ahead of his team-mate Dmitry Sotnikov.
The car / SxS / truck special has been halted at CP3 for safety reasons. Fog has made the end of the stage too hazardous and the competitors will therefore finish the stage after 425 km.
Eduard Nikolaev is in the running for another stage victory. However, the Russian is still under pressure from team-mate Dmitry Sotnikov who came through the latest time check point less than one minute behind the stage leader, followed in turn by Siarhei Viazovich with a fine display, 3’28 behind Nikolaev.
Stéphane Peterhansel has finished fourth behind Nani Roma and 26 minutes behind stage winner Sébastien Loeb, but more importantly the Mini driver crossed the finishing line 16 minutes behind Nasser Al-Attiyah, losing plenty of time in the last few kilometres, meaning he is distanced by the Qatari in the general standings.
