Fresh off his victory in the opening stage, Ignacio Casale is determined to maintain his iron grip on the rally. The Chilean rider went through CP1 ahead of Frenchman Axel Dutrie and 2017 champion Sergey Karyakin.
Varela Reinaldo is still pushing hard and remains in the lead after 150 km of racing. Juan Carlos Uribe is second, 1'46' back.
Joan Barreda is in control at CP1, with Adrien Van Beveren, Pablo Quintanilla and Stefan Švitko trailing over a minute behind the Spaniard but with small differences among them.
After a 31 km inaugural sprint that opened up a few gaps, things are about to get serious for the competitors. Over 90% of the stage will be off-track, with the spotlight on navigation. The cars will open the road on this occasion!
