Ton van Genugten has taken advantage of the last special on the rally to grab a fourth stage victory. The Iveco driver has beaten Martin Macík by 11 seconds and Dmitry Sotnikov by 3’35’’. Eduard Nikolaev finishes forth in Córdoba, but more importantly he has won his second consecutive Dakar behind the wheel of his Kamaz and the 3rd in his career, finishing with a huge gape of 3 hours and 57 minutes in front of Siarhei Viazovich.
Carlos Sainz has finished 9th on the last stage but obtains his second overall triumph on the Dakar following on from 2010. The Peugeot driver has faultlessly controlled the end to the rally, finishing 43 minutes in front of Nasser Al-Attiyah. Giniel de Villiers climbs onto the last place on the podium ahead of Stéphane Peterhansel.
Giniel de Villiers has reacquainted himself with stage victory to win the special in Córdoba, the first time for him since 2014! The Toyota driver has beaten Stéphane Peterhansel by 40 seconds, Nasser Al-Attiyah by 41 seconds and Lucio Alvarez by 43 seconds for an especially close finish!
Martin Macík boasts the best time after 48 km of the special. The Czech driver, still seeking his first victory on the Dakar, leads Ton van Genugten by 41 seconds and Dmitry Sotnikov by 1’13’’.
