Ton Van Genugten has dominated stage 10 from start to finish, but has finally beaten Argentinean Federico Villagra, determined to perform well in his home country, by a whisker. The Dutchman won by a mere 33 seconds, whilst Eduard Nikolaev still comfortably leads the general standings.
Nicolas Cavigliasso could not have hoped for better on his very first special on the Dakar in Argentina. The rookie has obtained his second stage win, ahead of his countryman Jeremias González Ferioli for an Argentinean one-two. Ignacio Casale finished 6 minutes behind the day’s winner and remains far ahead of everyone else in the general standings.
Giniel de Villiers has completed one of his best stages since the start. The South African has equalled his best result this year with second place at the finishing line, 8’46’’ behind Stéphane Peterhansel.
Nasser Al-Attiyah has experienced a difficult end to today’s stage. The Qatari seems to have had a problem with his Toyota and has finished the special 29 minutes behind the winner. As a result, he loses second place in the general standings to Stéphane Peterhansel.
