After a long battle with Federico Villagra then Martin Kolomy, Ton van Genugten has finally been the quickest over the last part of the special to obtain his third stage victory on the rally, 4’11’’ ahead of the Tatra driven by Kolomy.
Behind Ton Van Genugten who has regained command of the special at CP3 with a 5 minute lead over Martin Kolomy, the top two drivers in the general standings are playing for high stakes. Federico Villagra and Eduard Nikolaev are neutralising each other for the moment because they are separated by only two seconds!
Having dropped back behind Ton van Genugten at WP9, Martin Kolomy has since upped the pace to take 10 minutes from the Dutchman and move into the lead on the special, 3’12’’ ahead. Federico Villagra occupies third position, 8’44’’ behind the stage leader.
Martin Kolomy still leads the truck special. The Czech is holding off Ton van Genugten after 448 kilometres, with a lead of 1’45’’. The two men are some distance ahead of their pursuers, because Gert Huzink already trails by 14’10’’.
